Smoke Signals from the Sauce Boss
My wife says good BBQ seasoned right doesn’t need BBQ sauce. But I disagree. To me, it’s the greatest condiment ever invented.
It belongs on every type of meat. Pork. Beef. Chicken. Fish. It doesn’t matter.

Nothing else combines the powers of smoky, sweet, tangy, salty, and savory all in one bite. It adds life to unseasoned white meat and tones down the richness of fatty meats without stealing the spotlight.
Take it from a former big back. A good homemade BBQ sauce packed with herbs, spices, and just the right balance of sweetness is like the upgraded ketchup from BBQ heaven.
It’s exactly what that dry brisket, boring burger, or plain chicken breast has been waiting for.
It Must Be Homemade BBQ Sauce to Float My Boat
And to be clear, I’m talking about a good ole fashioned, Gen X style, old school homemade concoction, not those bottled brands they put out at carnivals and uncivilized food fairs.
For me, it’s more than just an impressive meat enhancer. Personally, I put that sh!t on everything…
- Tacos and fries
- Ham and cheese wraps
- Creamy mac n cheese
- Rice and fried potatoes
- Pastas and eggs
- Cornbread and sandwiches
- Spaghetti and sloppy Joe’s
- Tuna fish and chicken salad
- Onion rings and baked potatoes
Yet, my wife has me questioning my deep rooted love for that sweet, savory goodness. She tells me I still have “fat boy” tendencies. I decline to repeat my response. Lol 😄

But anyway. Naturally, I had to see if I was alone, so I wandered over to Reddit.
Turns out…I’m not. One user wrote:
“I put barbecue sauce on absolutely everything. I got made fun of for the better part of last year for putting bbq sauce on broccoli, so I understand where you are coming from. However, I believe that it does not belong anywhere near fruits. Would you dip your apples in bbq sauce?”
Some People Put That Sh!t Everything!
Broccoli? I can understand. But fruit? Well, that’s where I draw the line. Yet… I kept reading anyway.
Some people aren’t just putting BBQ sauce on dinner. They’re putting it on desserts too:
- Wendy’s frosties
- Chocolate malts
- Vanilla milkshakes
And then, I thought about it for a moment and realized I’d probably enjoy those too. So I’ve vowed to give them a try the next time I mysteriously find myself in a Wendy’s drive-through.

What about you? What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever put BBQ sauce on?
And what’s the one food that should NEVER have BBQ sauce anywhere near it?
Because… some people put that shi!t on everything. Tell me I’m lying.
And if all this BBQ talk has you craving some smoked chicken, check out our 5-Day Dinner Packages for Hemet and San Jacinto. We’ll handle the cooking, and hand deliver the sauce straight to your door.
Just don’t tell my wife I encouraged you to put BBQ sauce on everything. She’s still trying to break me of my “fat boy” tendencies. 😄
